The military has NOT canceled his retirement orders and in fact, told him last week he had to submit a time in grade waiver request. His date of initial entry on military service is May , his sanctuary orders were issued September , he was promoted to O-6 on 1 December , and the sanctuary orders end in May

From then on his life paralleled the growth of America’s air power and he personally contributed to most of the major milestones of development during the long period until he retired in Three years later, by act of Congress, he received permanent five-star rank as general of the Air Force, the first such commission ever granted. The rank has only been held by one person in history: General of the Army is the equivalent rank in the United States Army and the insignia for the two positions were originally the same.
The insignia for General of the Air Force was slightly modified in the s for wear on the new blue Air Force dress uniform. General of the Air Force, however, has never been worn by an officer of the modern Air Force on active duty. Arnold was a General of the Army and retired before the Air Force was made a separate service, but he was awarded the General of the Air Force rank after his retirement and was photographed in an Air Force uniform wearing the insignia of that rank.
As a result, General of the Air Force can still be seen on modern insignia charts and it is still considered an official rank of the United States Air Force. A General is an officer of high military rank. The term is used by nearly every country in the world.

The letter was signed by a person claiming to be a retired two star Army General. I wonder if this General knew he had violated the regulations by signing this letter? I receive a lot of questions about what military members are allowed and not allowed to do when it comes to politics. Federal Law Titles 10, 2, and 18, United States Code , Department of Defense DOD Directives, and specific military regulations strictly specify a military active duty person’s participation in partisan political activities.

Doppellitze, circa WWI officer with Litzen In 19th century German armies, Guard and other elite regiments wore lengths of double braid Doppellitze encircling all or most of the collar as a mark of distinction. By the middle of World War I these ornate collars had been reduced to an embroidered representation of short lengths of braid joined at the ends, sewn to patches worn at the front of the collar.
When the Reichsheer was established in as Germany’s first national army Litzen were prescribed as the universal collar device for all personnel other than generals, and the Third Reich continued the practice. Officers’ M35 Litzen Dress Field and service On the dress tunic Waffenrock and the later “ornamented” uniform, the Litzen were embroidered in fine aluminum thread on a patch of Abzeichentuch in the wearer’s Waffenfarbe , or branch color; the backing also showed through in the space between the two Litzen, the Mittelstreife.
On field and service uniforms, beginning in late , the patch Patten was dark bottle-green to match the collar; the Waffenfarbe “showed through” in fact colored cord was sewn into the center strip of each braid, the Litzenspiegel. For enlisted men service Litzen were machine-woven in silver-grey rayon; officers’ were embroidered more elaborately in white silk or aluminum thread, and were somewhat larger to match their higher collars.
NCOs’ M35 Litzen and Tresse Dress Field Non-commissioned officers Unteroffiziere wore standard enlisted collar patches but were distinguished by a strip of 9mm silver-grey diamond-woven rayon braid Tresse sewn around the collar’s front and lower edges, except on the dress Waffenrock where the Tresse was bright aluminum and encircled the collar’s upper edge. Enlisted field Litzen By the fast-growing Heer had found that it was impractical, for the enlisted field uniform, to manufacture and stock a multitude of collar patches in assorted Waffenfarben which also had to be sewn on and frequently changed by unit tailors.
Accordingly, new universal Litzen were introduced with the Litzenspiegel and Mittlestreife woven in dark green to match the backing patch, and which could be applied at the factory; Waffenfarbe was now displayed on the shoulder-straps, which simply buttoned on and were easily switched. With the wartime change to lower-visibility insignia enlisted Litzen were woven in matte “mouse-grey” with field-grey stripes, which were at first sewn to green collar patches as before but increasingly directly to the collar, which beginning in was made in feldgrau like the uniform; grey Patten were never produced.
The troops however preferred the green patches and collars if they had or could get them, especially on “clean” uniforms for walking-out; and long-service veterans took particular pride in pre Litzen with colored stripes.

The “Dear Boss” Saga
Preface This book is not an attack upon the Armed Forces nor upon the vast majority of senior military commanders, who, in time of war, succeeding in a task which would make the running of a large commercial enterprise seem like child’s play by comparison. It is, however, an attempt to explain how a minority of individuals come to inflict upon their fellow men depths of misery and pain virtually unknown in other walks of life.
The book involves a putting together of contributions from a great many people — historians , sociologist, psychologists and of course Soldiers and Sailors. It is hoped that none of these will feel misrepresented in the final picture which their contributions made. For errors of fact, and for the opinions expressed, I alone take full responsibility.

Investigations In the military, trusted officers have become alleged assailants in sex crimes At the Pentagon, officials are grappling with a resurgence of cases in which troops trained to prevent sexual assault or harassment are being accused of committing it. In the most recent case,an Army prosecutor in charge of sexual assault investigations in the Southwest was charged by the military last month with putting a knife to the throat of a lawyer he had been dating and raping her on two occasions, according to documents obtained by The Washington Post.
Additionally, a sergeant at Fort Sill, Okla. Army officials confirmed to The Post that eight other soldiers and civilians trained to deter sex offenses or help victims have been investigated over the past year in connection with sexual assault. The Army would not provide details, saying that many of the investigations are pending. Other branches of the armed forces have faced their own embarrassments.
Despite the investigation, the Air Force rehired Aanrud last month to work at the Pentagon as a technical specialist on aviation issues. An Army sergeant in charge of helping sexual assault victims at Fort Hood, Tex. Despite the measures, incidents kept happening. However, I was more than a little dismayed at your column on sleep apnea and the comments by Michael Webster. I have severe obstructive sleep apnea OSA. I am dependent on it to sleep without interruption. I was diagnosed with OSA while on active duty, two to three years before I retired and well before I even knew that it was a VA disabling condition.
Sleep Apnea is not new. It’s been described as early as the Roman era.

He is in a special operations unit and therefore cannot share any information with you. My husband was special ops. When we would go out with a bunch of guys from his unit and people would ask what they did, they simply replied they were in the Army. If there were soldiers being denied leave after being overseas for years at a time, it would be ALL over the news. Now, we certainly do have troops in other countries. He says he is not allowed to talk about what he does, however, he has cleared it with his CO that he can tell you enough to make you believe he is who he says.
This is followed by outrageous lies. Then the supposed CO sends back a letter asking for money to connect a phone line or some other complete lie. Everyone Around Him is Dead 5. He says one of the following…. My favorite is when they combine all these things.
